FAQs

1. What makes Vale Valley Estates a good community to live in?

First and foremost, the people – fantastic people that care about their neighbors and are always willing to pitch in to help. The community is one of the most sought-after communities in the Vienna-Oakton area, known for its vast common area green space, and its picturesque pond with a community fire pit and seating area. It is conveniently located close to Dulles Airport, Tyson’s Corner, Reston, Mosaic, Fairfax, Vienna and provides easy access to interstates 66 and 495 as well as routes 50, 29, and 7. Downtown Washington, DC is only a short drive away (about 20 miles).

2. What type of annual events does the HOA sponsor like meetings, elections, picnic, block party etc.?

·       Annual Board Meeting: typically in May or June

·       “Turkey Bowl”: every year on the morning of Thanksgiving. There is no pressure to play, and all are invited (with their family and friends) to come join, whether to socialize or play football (or both). Homeowners usually bring food and drinks to share, and we take a group photo with all in attendance.

·       Food trucks: each summer, we have food trucks periodically park near our HOA grounds (schedule is circulated by social coordinators in late spring). We also coordinate with neighboring Berryland Farms’ food truck schedule.

·       Halloween Parade: we hold a Halloween parade, where little ones march down center ridge court in costume, and receive bags of candy at the end of the parade.

·       Clean Up Days: on occasion, we will hold a community clean up day where homeowners gather to clean up the HOA grounds (repairing/maintaining trails, trimming trees and bushes, cleaning signs, etc.)

3. Top reasons why the community benefits from an HOA?

Maintenance of the common grounds, primarily. Also helping to build up reserves in the event we have any major expenses (e.g., dredging pond; removing large trees). Also organizing community events (see above).

4. How long has the HOA existed and why was it formed?

It was formed by the original builder in the early 1980s, and was turned over to the homeowners shortly after the community was built.

5. Is there an architectural board and what are the rules and process for a homeowner to modify their property?

Yes, there is an Environmental Committee that considers any improvements to the exterior of a home. The rules are located in the HOA bylaws. The process involves sending the Environmental Committee the proposed plans via email and confirming with immediate neighbors that they do not have any concerns.
